Before I embarked on my journey as a professional dog trainer, I spent nearly 30 years as a school teacher. While I loved teaching and helping students grow, my true passion has always been with dogs. In 2018, I made the life-changing decision to leave my teaching career and follow my dream of working with dogs full-time.

My journey into dog training began when I adopted my first dog, Alfie, a spirited Collie x GSD x Husky. Alfie was a bundle of energy and a bit of a handful, but through training and patience, he became my best partner in agility competitions. This experience sparked my passion for dog training and motivated me to help other dog owners build strong, positive relationships with their pets.

My Dogs

I am fortunate to share my life with 3wonderful rescue dogs and an awesome BC : Roxy, Gem, Skip & Drift. Each one has their unique personality and talents.

  • Roxy: A Collie x Golden Retriever, Roxy was a talented agility competitor and reached Grade 6 before I retired her from competition. She still loves bumbling around in micro height.
  • Gem: Also a Collie mix, Gem excels in agility, competing at Grade 7. She was the Reserve Champion at Dogs in Need 2023 and was invited to try out for Team GB.
  • Skip: A medium-sized Working Cocker Spaniel, Skip competes at Grade 7. He’s very enthusiastic and incredibly fast, though not always as consistent as I’d like — but he gives it his all every time, and I wouldn’t change him.
  • Drift: My youngest, Drift is a slate merle Border Collie and the definition of enthusiasm. She’s currently building her skills in agility and foundations, with a particular focus on shaping confidence and independence — all while being completely deaf in one ear. She’s a joy to train and keeps me on my toes (in the best way).

We sadly lost our old boy Alfie in January 2020. Alfie, a Collie x GSD x Husky, was an incredible companion and made it to Grade 4 in agility. His legacy lives on through the skills and joy he brought into our lives.

Client Testimonials:

“Kate is an absolutely fantastic dog trainer – her passion for dogs and their wellbeing is clearly evident when she works with them. Our dog Rosa is a rescue, and usually very nervous of new people. She loved Kate on our first one-to-one session, and she reacted so well to the reward-based training methods! We’ve been practising, and her confidence (along with ours!) has increased so much even in a short amount of time. I can’t recommend Kate enough!” – Emily S.

“We just completed pup stars with Scooby. Highly recommend this team, small classes and we went at a really nice pace. Scooby has learned lots and so have we. 5* rating for this team.” – Kayley T.

“Great fun and interactive puppy classes. Very beneficial for us as owners and Cooper.” – Claire C.
